In the frame of the project "Research assistances" funded by the European Union (European social fund) BeMiTec is cooperating with the Berlin based University of Applied Sciences (HTW, Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft) and the Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH). Goal is to further qualify highly skilled personal for new technical and scientific profiles. The project aims at a support of the local economy by improving transfer possibilities from research into practical applications and at the integration or re-integration of scientists and engineers.

The actual project "Mounting and automatic testing of GaN high power chips" targets mounting, testing and qualifying of high power GaN chips for new applications. Testing routines shall be optimized in order to provide the prerequisites for larger scale GaN power chip fabrication. The chips are to be characterized and selected already on wafer so that only fully functional chips are made available for chip mounting. Finally, the packaged chips shall be characterized by DC and RF measurements to make sure that the devices are in line with the targeted specifications.
